Since there came alternatvies to ie 6, people have strated to hate that Browser, it's a nightmare for web developers, a site may look totaly different in ie 6 compared to Firefox or Safari.
This causes problem, but the biggest one (this is what I think) is that ie 6 can't view transparency in png files, it support gif transparency, but that standert is from 1987, that's over 20 years ago. The PNG standard is about 10 years old and was developed 3 years before IE 6.
But why should we upgrade?
Not only to save web developers a lot of time, you also get a better web experience if you upgrade.
What Browser is the best?
I must say as a user of MAC OS X, safari, it's made by apple and is very well integrated with the Apple OS. Apple developed a new beta version of their browser a week ago: Safari 4.0 and after som time testing I must say that it's greate new stuff that's ben added. Read my blog post about Safari 4.0
If you are use windows, there are three good alternatives (maybe four), For those who doesn't wan't a big change, Internet explorer is a half-good alternatvie. I dont's like IE at all, but for some people it's good. I prefer to use Saferi even on windows but many others use Firefox and I think most of the internet users should use that browser, it makes a good job rendering the page and it follow most web standards.
You can also use Opera, I've never tried it but I've heard a logt good about it.
